There Isn’t Carrots

An in continuity poem in my work in progress graphic novel. This is a folk music form that came about during the two civil wars that split the US into different factions of colonized portion of what was once the US. This is in the same traditional as other song like They Left Behind Rice And Water.

There isn’t carrots
to feed the sick, no color
to feed the children.
There isn’t carrots to eat
for all the starving children.

We have those who
rule with an iron fist,
denying all children,
the right to eat food.
So much for all the children,
Who wear clogs of wood.

There isn’t carrots
to feed the sick, no color
to feed the children.
There isn’t carrots to eat
for all the starving children.

Let us feed the children,
Let them eat oranges,
And other delightful fruit.

Sometimes it takes
to feed the children,
A chance to topple the King,
In all its tyrannical glory,
And all the terror that brings.
